Sound systems are not “one size fits all.” You need a system set up that gives you the best sound for your particular space. That’s where Modern Systems comes in. Not only can we provide you with the perfect sound system, we can set it up in a way that utilizes the room’s full sound potential.
If you have a larger space, surround sound may be your best option. With a 7.1 system, you will feel like the movies are coming alive around you. You can experience movies the way directors intended, listen to music as if you were in the venue and become emerged in games as if they were actually going on around you.
In-wall and in-ceiling speakers keeps them out of view and allow surround sound in spaces that typically would not have much room allowance for multiple speakers.
If your space is not very large and surround sound is not the best option, sound bars may be the best fit. A sound bar is a set of speakers that is mounted right below your flat screen that works best in small to medium sized rooms. With designs to work with all sizes, they provide much better sound than the tiny speakers built into your flat panel. Because flat panels are designed to be thin and sleek, there is not much room for decent speakers. Sure, it may look great, but with sub-par sound you cheat yourself and your guests out of what could be a wonderful cinematic experience. In order to have the Ultimate Man Cave, great sound becomes a vital necessity.
Tune in for our next post where we will cover another important aspect of The Ultimate Man Cave, temperature and lighting control.

I recently read a blog from Control4 in which they had their employees tell their favorite movies they could watch a million times. Well, we liked the idea so much we decided to follow in their foot steps and do one of our own.
For me, there is nothing better than curling up on the couch with a bowl of extra buttery popcorn to watch my favorite flick. With the right movie, I can spend the next hour and a half to two hours rolling around on the floor laughing, clinched to the chair in anticipation, or fighting back tears and sobs in hopes that my husband doesn’t take notice.
After walking around the office for a while challenging my co-workers to let me in on their movie preferences, I was able to compile this nice little list of movies that the Modern Systems crew can watch a million times.
Katie Palmer – Marketing Director
I would have to say Mad Max. My husband made me watch it with him a while back, I did so reluctantly… and let me tell you, I LOVE the movies. All three of them are great but the first has to be my favorite. I never thought of Mel Gibson as an attractive person until I watched him ride around in his 1973 Ford XB Falcon Hardtop, wearing wonderfully tight leather all to take revenge on those who murdered his wife and son. I can honestly say it is the only time I did not think it was creepy for a man to wear leather.
Kevin Lloyd – Director of Operations
I have several movies that I’ve watched numerous times but lately the one that stands out to me is Inglourious Basterds. Brad Pitt’s portrayal of Lt. Aldo Raine is one of my favorite characters of all time. I think I have memorized all of his lines. If you’ve never watched it please check it out. If for no other reason but to find out why you don’t fight in a basement.
Elleen Muse – Office Assistant
50 First Dates. I love this movie because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The concept of this movie is what caught my attention. The fact that he has such an undying love for her and has to make her fall in love with him everyday is so fascinating. Not to mention the fact they would never fight because she would never remember anything that was said or done. I also just like corny, sappy movies that make me feel good. 🙂
Anita Schmidt – Receptionist
I love Forrest Gump! I’ve seen it over and over and still could watch it over and over. Every time I cry even though I know what’s going to happen. It’s the type of movie that touches on every emotion and I think that’s why I love it.
At Christmas I always have to watch A Christmas Story. It’s not quite Christmas unless I watch it once throughout the Christmas season. It brings back the feeling of being at home when I was young and I suppose I just relate to it.
Patty Burns – Office Manager
I love the movie The Devil Wears Prada. This movie not only is entertaining, but also brings into reality that we can strive for more and more in life, but when it all boils down we are only striving to be happy. We look at others and think they have all that we want, but actually we have to find out how we want to play out our lives. This movie reassures me that I am right where I want to be in my life.
Chris Helton – Service Manager
One of my favorite movies is The Green Mile I usually watch it every couple years or so. I thought Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan had great performances in this movie.
Stevie Brown – Sales Representative
I recently watched a movie called Machine Gun Preacher. It is now my favorite movie and is based upon the true story of Sam Childers. This movie is an inspirational story of one man that got out of prision and was able to kick his drug addiction. As he changes and transforms his life for the better, he is able to provide a future for his wife and daughter but also rescue hundreds of kidnapped, orphaned children in Africa. This man is still working and saving childrens lives in Africa today. I love this movie because it is proof that one man’s efforts can make a difference in the world.

BreaveHeart. It’s a great story about how one man can effect Change, all without a father. Here is a boy that turns into a man and has good morals and judgement and did not grow up with his father as he was killed at an early age. Granted, he grew up with his aunt and uncle, but thats not the same. He proves it’s not the size of the dog but the fight in the dog that matters. As one of the smaller Scottish men he has the heart of a giant and proves it when ever he had to fight for the rights of his people.
Why not spend tonight curled up on your couch with a bowl of your favorite treat and enjoy one of our movie favorites? Have a home theater? Great, now you have all you need to watch them as if you were at the theaters.
