Anyone who owns a monitored alarm system should test their system monthly. Testing your alarm system on a regular basis is the only way to know that your system is working properly. Having a system that is malfunctioning or not alerting the monitoring station as it should could leave you with out emergency assistance when it is needed most.

How to Test Your Alarm System

1. Call the Central Station at 1-800-633-2677. Tell the dispatcher you wish to conduct a test on your alarm. Provide the following information: Your name and account #, Your Central Station Passcode (your 4-digit alarm code) and; How long you wish your system to be placed on test. Make sure you give yourself enough time.

2. Test by arming your system then opening a protected door or window. Let the siren or bell sound for at least 30 seconds to make sure the signal is received. (The Central Station will take no action on any signals received during the time your system is placed on “test.”)

3. Call the Central Station again and request the results of your test. Tell the dispatcher to place your system “back in service.” If you don’t call, your system will automatically be placed “back in service” when the requested amount of testing time has expired.

If there is a problem with your system or if you have trouble placing your account on test, call Modern Systems at 1-800-252-7664 for assistance.
